Mais je n&#039;avais jamais imagin\u00e9 ce qui nous attendait en deuxi\u00e8me ann\u00e9e en 2015. Nous avons continu\u00e9 \u00e0 d\u00e9velopper notre produit, d\u00e9velopp\u00e9 notre entreprise avec plus de 15 employ\u00e9s, obtenu les commentaires des premiers utilisateurs, suscit\u00e9 l&#039;int\u00e9r\u00eat des premiers utilisateurs et soulev\u00e9 notre deuxi\u00e8me tour de table. Au cours de ce voyage, j&#039;ai appris pas mal de choses que j&#039;aimerais partager avec vous. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Le but de cet article est d&#039;\u00eatre franc et en aucun cas d&#039;offenser qui que ce soit. On m&#039;a dit de NE PAS \u00e9crire de tels articles lorsque nous cherchons \u00e0 lever des fonds, mais j&#039;esp\u00e8re qu&#039;en \u00e9tant honn\u00eate, cela pourra aider d&#039;autres entrepreneurs et parties prenantes.<\/b><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><b>Il n&#039;y a PAS de r\u00e8gles, seulement des exp\u00e9riences <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">- En tant qu&#039;entrepreneurs, nous sommes en train de perturber les industries et de d\u00e9truire les anciennes pratiques et le statu quo. Malgr\u00e9 notre r\u00f4le perturbateur, des \u00abexperts en d\u00e9marrage\u00bb, des investisseurs et d&#039;autres entrepreneurs nous expliquent les r\u00e8gles du jeu. Pendant mon temps, j&#039;ai entendu dire: \u00abvous devez avoir un co-fondateur\u00bb, \u00abvous ne pouvez pas cibler le B2C et le B2B en m\u00eame temps\u00bb, et d&#039;autres r\u00e8gles que je ne respecte pas actuellement. Dans le m\u00eame temps, les donn\u00e9es des soci\u00e9t\u00e9s de recherche sortent et d\u00e9crivent les tendances qui tentent de vous dire ce qui aide une start-up \u00e0 r\u00e9ussir et ce qui la fait d\u00e9railler. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ayant dirig\u00e9 l&#039;entreprise pendant deux ans, j&#039;aurais aim\u00e9 que tout soit si noir et blanc - il n&#039;y a pas de r\u00e8gles \u00e0 ce jeu. Au cours de ma premi\u00e8re ann\u00e9e \u00e0 la t\u00eate de l&#039;entreprise, j&#039;ai pris ces r\u00e8gles et les ai suivies aussi rigoureusement que possible. Maintenant, je suis dans une position o\u00f9 j&#039;appr\u00e9cie et respecte encore les opinions et les points de vue des gens, mais je ne les traite pas comme des r\u00e8gles. Le v\u00e9ritable apprentissage dans le monde des start-up vient de l&#039;exp\u00e9rience. L&#039;exp\u00e9rience des autres peut \u00eatre utile, mais les seules r\u00e8gles que vous apprendrez viennent de la v\u00f4tre. Les points ci-dessous proviennent tous de mon exp\u00e9rience d&#039;entrepreneur. \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Ne faites pas de compromis sur la forme physique <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">- Il est tentant de sauter votre session de formation pour vider votre bo\u00eete de r\u00e9ception ou terminer cette pr\u00e9sentation d&#039;investisseur, mais vous ne devriez pas. Ce n&#039;est pas un sprint mais un marathon. J&#039;en suis coupable, et j&#039;ai d\u00fb red\u00e9finir les priorit\u00e9s et me rappeler que la sant\u00e9 personnelle est importante. J&#039;ai m\u00eame achet\u00e9 un portable Fitbit pour continuer \u00e0 me rappeler de bouger.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Aucun livre, montant d&#039;investissement ou conseil \/ conseil ne peut vous aider \u00e0 d\u00e9marrer une entreprise <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8211; <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Si les cl\u00e9s du succ\u00e8s \u00e9taient vraiment enfouies dans le cerveau d&#039;une seule personne, nous le saurions tous maintenant. Le seul moyen est de le vivre, d&#039;essayer, de faire des erreurs et d&#039;\u00e9chouer rapidement si n\u00e9cessaire.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Succ\u00e8s = travail acharn\u00e9 + timing + chance<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> - Il y a beaucoup de citations et d&#039;expressions idiomatiques autour du succ\u00e8s et des efforts. La plupart d&#039;entre eux disent que quelque chose comme le succ\u00e8s est l&#039;effort 99% et le timing et la chance 1%. S&#039;il est important de travailler dur, presque personne ne d\u00e9marre une entreprise avec l&#039;intention de se d\u00e9tendre. En r\u00e9alit\u00e9, c&#039;est probablement plus proche de 50-50. Par exemple, j&#039;ai travaill\u00e9 dur pour convaincre les investisseurs, mais si je n&#039;avais pas eu mon premier investisseur \u00e0 l&#039;\u00e9poque, nous ne serions pas ici aujourd&#039;hui.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>La plupart des \u00e9v\u00e9nements et des conf\u00e9rences sont une distraction<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> - Je suis vraiment nul pour le r\u00e9seautage, mais je sais que c&#039;est important, alors j&#039;ai essay\u00e9 de quitter ma zone de confort pour assister \u00e0 des \u00e9v\u00e9nements sur des centaines \u00e0 Londres chaque ann\u00e9e. Pour \u00eatre franc: lorsque vous \u00eates en mode ex\u00e9cution, la plupart d&#039;entre eux ont \u00e9t\u00e9 une perte de temps pour moi. Les \u00e9v\u00e9nements qui ont vraiment bien fonctionn\u00e9 pour nous ont permis de pr\u00e9senter nos offres. Maintenant, je refuse g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement les invitations \u00e0 des \u00e9v\u00e9nements.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b><b>La plupart des utilisateurs sont pr\u00eats \u00e0 donner leur avis, il vous suffit de demander <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">- Ma pr\u00e9somption lors du d\u00e9marrage de l&#039;entreprise \u00e9tait que la plupart des gens sont tr\u00e8s occup\u00e9s et qu&#039;il est peu probable que vous obteniez beaucoup de commentaires des utilisateurs. Mais \u00e9tonnamment, nous avons re\u00e7u des commentaires d\u00e9taill\u00e9s de plus de 70 utilisateurs sur notre plateforme. Tout ce que nous avions \u00e0 faire \u00e9tait de demander.<\/span><\/b><\/li>\n<li><b>L&#039;un des plus grands d\u00e9fis \u00e9tait de continuer \u00e0 motiver les gens<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> - Nous, les entrepreneurs, sommes fous et pouvons \u00eatre tr\u00e8s exigeants. Parfois, nous nous attendons \u00e0 ce que tous les membres de notre \u00e9quipe travaillent comme nous, mais cela n&#039;arrivera pas. Diff\u00e9rentes personnes auront diff\u00e9rents facteurs qui les motivent. Une chose que j&#039;ai apprise est que vous ne pouvez pas toujours motiver les gens avec de l&#039;argent. En fait, j&#039;ai perdu l&#039;un de mes d\u00e9veloppeurs vedettes en 2015 parce que je ne savais pas qu&#039;il \u00e9tait uniquement motiv\u00e9 par la qualit\u00e9 du travail. L&#039;argent, et tout le reste \u00e9tait secondaire.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b style=\"line-height: 1.5;\">Il y a des choses que vous devez faire m\u00eame si vous n&#039;en avez pas le m\u00e9rite<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> - Lors de la cr\u00e9ation d&#039;une entreprise technologique, de nombreux \u00e9l\u00e9ments sont cach\u00e9s aux consommateurs et aux investisseurs. Ils ne peuvent pas voir ces choses sur le site, mais elles sont vitales. Tester votre code, cr\u00e9er une infrastructure \u00e9volutive et \u00e9crire un code propre et lisible ne sont que quelques \u00e9l\u00e9ments importants pour la durabilit\u00e9 \u00e0 long terme de l&#039;entreprise, et m\u00eame importants pour l&#039;acquisition ult\u00e9rieure.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b><b>La collecte de fonds est une salope plus grosse que je ne le pensais <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">- \u00abIl y a beaucoup de liquidit\u00e9s sur les march\u00e9s !,\u00bb \u00abRecord de lev\u00e9e de fonds! Surtout dans la fintech! Tous bullcrap! Il existe une abondance de financement de d\u00e9marrage au Royaume-Uni, mais tout n&#039;est pas l\u00e0 pour vous. Je pourrais d\u00e9dier un article entier \u00e0 ce sujet, <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.financeforfounders.com\/abundance-of-start-up-funding-in-the-uk-but-not-necessarily-for-you\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">alors j&#039;ai fait<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/b><\/li>\n<li><b>Les \u00abnormes\u00bb peuvent ne pas \u00eatre justes<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> - Alors que nous essayons de perturber d&#039;autres industries, la plus grande perturbation est n\u00e9cessaire dans le processus de collecte de fonds - les feuilles de conditions, l&#039;alignement du risque \/ r\u00e9compense, etc. pr\u00e9f\u00e9rence dans les feuilles de termes. M\u00eame certains acc\u00e9l\u00e9rateurs jetteront des mandats dans les petits caract\u00e8res des contrats. On dit \u00e0 la plupart des entrepreneurs que ce sont les normes, mais rappelez-vous que la plupart d&#039;entre elles ne sont pas justes pour vous et les personnes qui vous font confiance: vos employ\u00e9s et les investisseurs d\u00e9butants. Malheureusement, la plupart d&#039;entre nous doivent accepter ces conditions car elles sont devenues standard, mais n&#039;oubliez pas qu&#039;elles ne sont pas \u00e9quitables.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b><b>Le fondateur devra \u00eatre la personne d&#039;exp\u00e9rience utilisateur pour un produit compliqu\u00e9 (fintech) <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">- Il est difficile de trouver des personnes comp\u00e9tentes en finance et en technologie. M\u00eame si vous les trouvez, ils sont g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement inabordables car ils sont tr\u00e8s demand\u00e9s. Cela signifie que le travail pour lequel vous voudrez ces gens tombera sur vous. <\/span><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/b><\/li>\n<li><b>Le Royaume-Uni (et peut-\u00eatre l&#039;Europe) n&#039;est pas le meilleur endroit pour les entreprises de produits \u00e9volutives<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">La plupart des gens en dehors de la Silicon Valley ont du mal \u00e0 comprendre la diff\u00e9rence entre un produit et une entreprise de services. Les entreprises de produits pr\u00e9sentent un avantage consid\u00e9rable, mais les entreprises de services peuvent commencer \u00e0 percevoir des revenus plus t\u00f4t, parfois au cours du premier mois. D&#039;un autre c\u00f4t\u00e9, les entreprises de produits doivent d\u00e9penser de l&#039;argent t\u00f4t pour cr\u00e9er le produit. En raison d&#039;un manque de ressources et du risque inh\u00e9rent aux soci\u00e9t\u00e9s de produits, le Royaume-Uni et l&#039;Europe ne sont pas les meilleurs endroits pour lancer une start-up de produit. C&#039;\u00e9tait parce qu&#039;on m&#039;a vendu l&#039;id\u00e9e que le capital est facile et bon march\u00e9. Maintenant que je suis r\u00e9veill\u00e9, je garde mon taux de combustion bas afin de pouvoir casser encore plus vite et de ne pas avoir \u00e0 compter sur la lev\u00e9e de capitaux.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Avoir des plans B et C, et tu dormiras la nuit<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> - Abandonner n&#039;est pas une option, mais il est important d&#039;accepter la d\u00e9faite si vous vous \u00eates tromp\u00e9 dans votre hypoth\u00e8se. L&#039;an dernier, la collecte de fonds avait \u00e9t\u00e9 difficile. Donc, pour obtenir un repos bien m\u00e9rit\u00e9, j&#039;ai continu\u00e9 \u00e0 proposer des plans B et C. Le plan B est d&#039;obtenir un emploi de consultant \u00e0 temps partiel et de payer moi-m\u00eame les factures de l&#039;entreprise. \u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Les entrepreneurs n&#039;obtiennent pas toujours les avantages \/ cr\u00e9dits que nous m\u00e9ritons<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> - Il existe un d\u00e9salignement grave des avantages entre les investisseurs et les entrepreneurs au Royaume-Uni. Par exemple, les entrepreneurs n&#039;obtiennent AUCUN avantage SEIS \/ EIS s&#039;ils d\u00e9tiennent plus de 30% dans l&#039;entreprise. De plus, peu de gens comprennent le concept de co\u00fbt d&#039;opportunit\u00e9 et valorisent l&#039;investissement en esp\u00e8ces plut\u00f4t que l&#039;investissement en temps et en d\u00e9vouement.
